Chief of Police - Wayne Bush
The Police Department is led by Chief of Police Wayne Bush. Chief Bush began serving as a Law Enforcement Officer with the Weaver Police Department in October 1995, completed a Bachelor of Science Degree with Jacksonville State University in 1996, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in March 1996, and was appointed as Chief of Police in April 2000. Chief Bush received certification from the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission as a Certified Law Enforcement Executive in June 2014.
Office of the Chief of Police
The Chief of Police is responsible for overseeing the safety of the community and enforcing the laws of Alabama. It is the Chief’s responsibility to ensure the officer and investigators of the Weaver Police Department are properly trained and prepared to respond to any type of situation that may arise. The chief is also responsible for issuing policy and procedures and to ensure that officers follow them accordingly. The chief is also required to submit yearly operating budget reports and requests for additional funding, if needed. The chief also attends each of the city council meetings to provide any information needed by the Mayor or Council.
In the City of Weaver, the Chief of Police also takes on an active patrol shift each week and responds to calls for service just as every other officer does.
