Weaver Sworn Officers

Investigator/ Lieutenant - A. Hunter

Lt. Hunter grew up in north Alabama and found his way to Jacksonville State University in 1999. His law enforcement career started in 1996 in the United States Army Reserves as a military police officer. In 2000 Lt. Hunter began policing as a civilian with Jacksonville State University PD. From there in 2001, he was recruited to become an investigator with the Calhoun County District Attorney’s Office where he was assigned to the Drug Task Force. Lt. Hunter completed multiyear assignments with both the ATF and DEA during his time with the Drug Task Force. In 2014, he left the covert world of narcotics work to join Weaver PD as a patrol officer. In 2016, he was recruited to help run law enforcement training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness under the US Department of Homeland Security. After 2 ½ years away, he came back home to Weaver PD and was quickly promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In 2021, then, Sgt. Hunter, was again promoted to his current rank of Lieutenant where he oversees the majority of investigations at Weaver Police Department.

Sergeant - N. Quinn

Sgt. Quinn began his law enforcement career with Weaver Police Department in February 2017, and he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in April 2021.

Police Officer - L. Giddy

Officer Giddy began serving with the Weaver Police Department on March 28, 2024. Officer Giddy became a Certified Law Enforcement Officer in 2019 having previously served as an Officer with the Piedmont Police Department and as a Deputy with the Cleburne County Sheriffs Office. 

Police Officer - H. Bowden

Officer Bowden came to the Weaver Police Department with many years of service as a Certified Law Enforcement Officer before beginning her service with Weaver Police Department in January 2021. Officer Bowden is the Department’s K-9 handler, and her K-9 partner is Bane (a Dutch Shepard).  Bane is certified in narcotics detection and tracking.

Police Officer - J. Benavides

Officer Benavides is a U.S. Army Veteran. He began serving our community when he began his career in Law Enforcement with Weaver Police Department in 2010.

Police Officer - L. Wyatt

Officer Wyatt began serving our community as a Police Officer in July 2022.

Police Officer - D. Sams

Officer Matthew Dreu Sams has been serving since beginning his law enforcement career with the Weaver Police Department in September 2022

Weaver Dispatchers

Dispatch Supervisor
Kimberly “Kim” Chaka

Ms. Chaka has been serving as a Dispatcher since June 2007, and she has been serving as Dispatch Supervisor since March 2019.

Mrs. Nesbitt has been serving as a Dispatcher since October 2013.

Ms. McRae has been serving as a part time Dispatcher since September 2021.

Sherry Tavis

Mrs. Tavis works part-time as a Dispatcher with Weaver Police Department, and she is a full-time Dispatcher for Calhoun County 911.

Bobbie Beavers

Mrs. Beavers retired from the Piedmont Police Department where she served as Dispatch Supervisor.  Mrs. Beavers has been serving as a Dispatcher with Weaver Police Department since September 2016.
