Notice is hereby given by the City Council of the City of Weaver, Alabama, to sell to the highest bidder, by sealed bids, the following parcel of real property located around part of Buckhorn Lake at the intersection of Alexandria-Jacksonville Highway and Angel Lake Road and containing 6.93 acres, more or less.

That certain lot or parcel of land situated in the State of Alabama, Calhoun County, City of Weaver, and more particularly described as follows: Calhoun County Parcel Number: 12-09-29-0-000-019.002, PPIN 92706.

The City will convey the property by statutory warranty deed “AS IS, WHERE IS” with no express or implied warranties.

The City will accept sealed bids for the property until 3:00 p.m., Friday November 1, 2024.  The bids will be received by the city subject to a RESERVE PRICE.  Any bids received for less than the City’s RESERVE PRICE will be subject to immediate rejection as non-responsive.  The City reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to consider bids below the RESERVE PRICE, but does not guarantee acceptance.  Bidding instruction and the Offer to Purchase Form are attached. All bids must be made on the Offer to Purchase form provided by the city and placed in an envelope with the words “Sealed Bid” and the Parcel Identification Number written on the envelope.  Bids shall be delivered to the Weaver City Hall, C/O Mayor Jeff Clendenning, 500 Anniston Street, Weaver, AL 36277.

At 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2024, all bids received shall be opened in public and the amount of each bid recorded.  The record of bids shall be reported to the City Council at their next regularly scheduled work session/council meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

The Weaver City Council will determine the highest responsive and responsible bidder for the property and will award the bid upon Council Approval on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

To be responsible, a bid must be made on the Offer to Purchase form provided by the City, placed in an envelope with the words “Sealed Bid” and the Parcel Identification Number written on the envelope, and be accompanied by a bid deposit of five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid.  A bid deposit may take the form of cash, a cashier’s check, a certified check, or a money order. The deposit of the bidder to whom the award is made will be held until the sale of the property is closed; if that bidder refuses at any time to close the sale, the deposit will be forfeited to the City. The deposits of other bidders will be returned at the time the Weaver City Council awards the property to the highest responsible bidder.

The City reserves the right to withdraw the property from sale at any time and the right to reject all bids.
