Welcome to Elwell Park

Elwell Park is located behind Weaver City Hall and is adjacent to the Chief Ladiga Trail. We love for our residents and visitors to come and enjoy the amenities offered at the park where everyone is welcome. The entire park sits on approximately 10 acres and has something for everyone, we even have a dog park for your furry, four-legged children.

Playground

We love it when families bring their children to the park to enjoy the playground. Sometimes a kid just needs to be a kid and run around and play. We have made sure that we created a safe environment for all families to come and use this wonderful area. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch or bring something to enjoy on the grills that are available on the pavilions and bring some chairs and an umbrella to be able to make it a great day at the park.

Splash Pad

Splash pad photoIt gets hot in Weaver so we have built a great way to cool down during the summer. Come out to the park and take a break from the heat in our great splash pad. with lots of areas of cooling water to spray you down, there is plenty of room for everyone.

The splash pad is not a swimming pool so even small children (with a parent) can safely come and cool down and have some fun.

The splash pad is open from 10:00am to 8:00pm from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend (weather permitting).

Chief Ladiga Trail

Photo of Chief Ladiga Trail entrance in WeaverThe Chief Ladiga Trail in Alabama covers over 33 miles through Calhoun and Cleburne Counties to ultimately connect with the silver comet trail in Georgia.  The trail is named after Sehoy III’s son’s nickname, Chief Ladiga.  Weaver is one of the many cities that the trail comes through so it also provides a special place for bike riders, runners, walkers, and any other non motorized outdoor activity.
If you’re ever in the area, the Chief Ladiga Trail is definitely worth checking out!
Access to the trail is always free and there is parking available near the fire station or at the park itself.  The Chief Ladiga Trail is a part of the Alabama Trails Foundation and the Rails to Trails Conservancy. So whether you’re a local or just passing through, be sure to take advantage of this beautiful trail.

Lighted Walking Trail

Photo of Chief Ladiga Trail entrance in WeaverWhile the Chief Ladiga Trail is good for long range walking, biking and running, we also have our lighted walking trail through Elwell Park that goes through the pines and provides a shorter stroll that can be enjoyed at any hour — even after dark — for those who may not want to get out during the heat of the summer days.  While some might find the gravel path to be more rugged than desired, it is another wonderful amenity of Elwell Park.

Skate Park

The skate park in Weaver is located behind the splash pad. Inaugurated in June 2007, the Weaver Skate Park was the first Public Skate Board Park built in Calhoun County.  Since its grand opening, it has been a beloved destination for skateboarders all across the region, attracting visitors of all ages and skill levels with its variety of features, including ramps, rails, and more. With its well-maintained concrete surface, the park provides an ideal setting for practicing and improving one’s skateboarding abilities, whether you’re just starting out or are an experienced skater.

But the Weaver Skate Park is more than just a place to skate. It’s a symbol of what can be achieved when the community comes together to pursue a shared goal. The skate park was a collaborative effort between Skate Calhoun County, Anniston Morning Rotary Club, the City of Weaver, and at least 1,300 local skaters and parents all of whom worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition. Today, it stands as a testament to the power of grassroots organizing and civic engagement, and continues to inspire others to create positive change in their own communities.

So whether you’re a seasoned skateboarder or a curious newcomer, come on down to the Weaver Skate Park and experience the thrill of the ride for yourself. But always remember to put safety first and wear a helmet and protective gear while you’re testing your tricks on the ramps and rails.
