Weaver, AL – On August 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Weaver Police Department officers responded to a call involving an elderly resident who had fallen inside a locked home. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the resident was not in immediate danger, but entry was needed.
Officers used tools from their patrol units to gain access through an older window without causing significant damage. The resident was then assisted.
The Weaver Police Department urges residents—particularly those at risk for falls or with medical conditions—to consider installing a secure lockbox, such as a Knox Box, at their residence. These devices allow first responders to access a spare key during emergencies, saving precious time and avoiding costly property damage.
If a lockbox is installed, residents are encouraged to provide the combination to the Weaver Police Department so it can be kept on file for faster emergency access.
