WATER SERVICE
DEPOSITS/DISCONNECTS
A $75.00 deposit is required for both water and sanitation services, and there is a $10.00 non-refundable service fee ($160.00 total). If you wish to discontinue your services, you must come to city hall and sign the disconnect form and provide a forwarding address along with the disconnect date. On the date specified by you, the meter will be read, the water turned off, and a lock placed on the meter. The water and sanitation deposits on file will be applied to your final bill, and a final bill or refund will be sent to your forwarding address at the time of the next billing.
BILLING
The water meters belong to the City and are read between the 1st and 10th day of each month. Bills are mailed on the 19th of each month and are due by the 10th of the following month. A 10% late charge is added to bills paid after the 10th. We bill one month behind. The previous and current readings are located on your bill, and you are only charged for the amount of water (gallons) that passes through the meter.
In addition to the rates below, there is a monthly $5.00 water system maintenance fee used to maintain the wells.
Monthly water rates INSIDE CITY LIMITS are as follows:
From zero gallons to 2,000 gallons, there is a minimum charge of $15.57.
From 2,001 gallons to 5,000 gallons or fraction thereof, the rate is $3.30 per thousand gallons.
From 5,001 gallons to 8,000 gallons or fraction thereof, the rate is $3.86 per thousand gallons.
From 8,001 gallons to 11,000 gallons or fraction thereof, the rate is $4.97 per thousand gallons.
For all water used in excess of 11,000 gallons, the rate is $5.52 per thousand gallons.
Monthly water rates OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS are as follows:
From zero gallons to 2,000 gallons, there is a minimum charge of $20.51.
From 2,001 gallons to 5,000 gallons or fraction thereof, the rate is $3.59 per thousand gallons.
From 5,001 gallons to 8,000 gallons or fraction thereof, the rate is $4.14 per thousand gallons.
From 8,001 gallons to 11,000 gallons or fraction thereof, the rate is $5.24 per thousand gallons.
For all water used in excess of 11,000 gallons, the rate is $5.79 per thousand gallons.
PAPERLESS BILLING
Paperless billing is now available. You can receive your bill by email and view your monthly water usage and payment histories by registering for an on-line account with your four-digit account number. Click on View or Pay Water Bill on the home page.
PAYMENTS
We gladly accept CASH, CHECKS, MONEY ORDERS, and DEBIT / CREDIT CARDS in the office and in the drive-thru during regular business hours; there is a small fee to use your card. The drop box is available after hours for checks and money orders. You can also pay your bill ON-LINE; you will need your four-digit account number. BANK DRAFT is also available at no charge; the drafts occur on the 10th of each month. If your bill is paid on or before the due date, the net amount is due. If the bill is paid after the due date a 10% penalty will be added, and you must pay the gross amount. If you do not receive your bill or need to know your balance, contact city hall.
SANITATION
The City of Weaver has contracted with WASTE MANAGEMENT for garbage service, and cans are emptied on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Put your garbage can out the night before your pick-up day. If Waste Management observes a holiday, the rest of the week will be a day late. A $24.95 charge for inside city limits and a $26.95 charge for outside city limits per month will be included on your monthly water bill. Household garbage only goes in the containers. Items lying loose near the cans will not be picked up.
Containers should be placed at the end of your driveway by the road; the handles should face AWAY from the street. Allow three (3) feet of space on each side of the can to allow room for the arms of the automated truck to pick it up. Because many city streets are narrow, please bring your can back to your house after your trash has been picked up. If needed, an extra garbage container can be requested by calling city hall, but there is an additional charge per month at the same rate as the first container. Sanitation is picked up weekly but charged monthly.
Unfortunately, bulk items cannot be picked up with regular garbage. Owners must dispose of bulk items at local landfills designed for such materials. Bulk items include, but are not limited to: lumber, sheetrock, carpet, metal, old furniture, appliances, etc. The Calhoun County Landfill periodically offers “free” days and can be reached at (256) 236-2411 or by visiting calhouncounty.org/landfill.
LEAF/LIMB PICK UP
Leaves, limbs, and pine straw pick-up is available to customers inside the city limits only, and leaves/pine straw must be bagged. These pick-ups do not have a specific schedule but are picked up periodically throughout the month as time allows. Call city hall to request a work order. Limbs and bushes should not exceed 10 inches in diameter or 8 feet in length. The city cannot pick up any wood that is not still in its unprocessed, natural state, including wood with nails attached; it must be disposed of at local landfills. Please note: If a tree is cut down for you by a company (including individuals and contractors), the company/individual/contractor is responsible for removing the tree, and the city will not pick it up.
ROAD REPAIRS & STREET LIGHTS
To report road repairs, street signs, drainage problems, or street light outages inside the city limits, call the Public Works Director at (256) 820-1121 extension 105. To report these issues outside the city limits, call the Calhoun County Road Department at (256) 237-4657.
After-hour Water Emergencies
If you have a water emergency after regular business hours or on the weekend, a police dispatcher can always be reached at (256) 820-0530.
Please note: An after-hours fee may be applied to your water bill if a public works employee responds to an issue for which the city is not responsible.
